AI Feature ‘Gods Don’t Give Gifts’ Sets Trailer and Oscar Bid
Gods Don’t Give Gifts, a feature made with generative AI by YouTube creator Zack London (Gossip Goblin), is heading to cinemas. Variety reports the film has set its trailer plans and will mount an Oscar campaign.
The film strings four science-fiction shorts into one feature about what people give up when technology lets them outrun death and memory. It was made with Fable Studio by a team of ten artists over two months. Real actors voice every character: AI made the images, not the performances.
It opens October 30 in several hundred theaters, including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago. Under the Academy’s rules, using AI tools neither helps nor hurts a film’s chances of a nomination.
Why we’re watching: the tools for telling stories are changing fast, and every new road to the big screen matters to an independent studio like ours.
